The Challenge
Does this sound familiar?................
You're faced with implementing new computer based systems (or replacing your legacy systems), managing new technology and change in the workplace. You've been given the task of managing this change. What does this mean for you and your organisation?
|
|
The Reality
Well in most cases, huge costs accompanied by small time-scales. Unknowns all around. Lots of people to organise, motivate and control. Discussions with vendors, reviews of tenders and proposals, generation of specifications and requirement analysis, recruitment of staff with new or rare skills. Planning and actual task/project management. Obtaining advice, training, hand-holding during the crucial go-live period, and a hundred and one other tasks. Who would you turn to for help? Well, there are plenty of large companies who will be only to pleased to help you with all these issues and more. All they ask is that you contribute a substantial amount from your budget to theirs.................

The Solution
There is, however, an alternative - Greybeard Consulting Limited. Here at Greybeard, we still believe in the philosophy that 'small is beautiful', and for us that means focused, committed, dedicated and professional. Easy to say, harder to achieve, but that's our aim. So what does this mean in practice? It means that a dedicated Greybeard consultant assigned to your project will be totally focused on helping you define, set and reach your goals. Will be committed to achieving success on your behalf, dedicated to working as hard as you do,(probably harder), while being totally professional in every sense. At the same time, a Greybeard consultant will be delivering the goods in a cost-effective manner due to our lower overheads. Being small means we are flexible, not tied down to large company procedures and bureaucracy Sounds too good? Look at it like this, if you bought a juggernaught, you wouldn't get the handling and performance of a sports car..............................

The Approach
Management of expectations is a major part of our philosophy. We won't tell you what you already know, and we won't tell you just what you want to hear - what you will hear is the truth and an honest assessment of achievement, progress or problems, backed up with whatever recommendations may be necessary to achieve your goals. To do this, here are some of the methods and related philosophy we use when engaged on project work:
- Ensure your project is driven and owned by senior management, preferably the CEO or Managing Director
- Seek to appoint from your business a project champion who will support the solution and drive the project in a pro-active way, on a day to day basis.
- Establish clearly stated aims and objectives for the project, communicated to the relevant people
- Ensure your project is correctly scoped with appropriate milestones, realistic time-scales and sufficent resources
- Endeavour to manage risks in a sensitive manner, and alert management to the implications of 'ignorance is bliss'
- Understanding the needs of the business, now and in the future
- Ascertain that appropriate sign off and approval is obtained before progression through each stage of the project
- Assist with the production and execution of rigourous test-plans at all levels
- Manage the development process if necessary
- Provide support during conversion, ramp-up and go-live
- We'll even organise your post go-live celebrations!
Our success is inextricably linked to yours, and vice versa, so we will always endeavour to maximise achievement for everyone concerned.
